Dello Scompiglio - residencies
The form of the residency has been an almost natural part of the work of the Associazione Culturale since the beginning, supporting the constant dialogue between the performance activity and the internal and external spaces of the Tenuta Dello Scompiglio, in which each place can become a stage and every environment is influenced by the artistic activity.
The artists have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the life of the Tenuta and to engage with the place and the people who are part of it, thus becoming themselves an active part of the Dello Scompiglio Project in all its facets.
The accommodations in which they reside are passive houses, powered by natural sources and located within the organic farm.
The residencies, open also to informal groups, allow access to artists who do not enjoy a permanent production support, creating an opportunity for support in an initial phase, the most delicate and uncertain in its outcomes.
There are no defined areas of intervention by artistic typology or age groups, and, for theatrical projects, it is not relevant whether it is a formal company or an informal ensemble. The projects can be existing or new, of any size or duration, to be realised in the internal or external spaces of the Tenuta and can include any type of language.
Not all the projects necessarily result in a production. Some of them develop in phases until they end in a formal outcome, others are dedicated exclusively to research.
This extreme flexibility is intended to safeguard the freedom of artists to propose projects of even greater scope and not run into a form of self-censorship necessitated by the scarcity of resources and the difficulty of managing many companies over the long term.
Mirko Guido - Shifting Thoughts (DK)
TECTONIC
On a central stage, surrounded by the audience, the dancer moves within a landscape of resonant materials. Metal plates vibrate, the light refracts, the floor shifts and the sound pulsates. Her movements interact with vibrations and forces that transcend her, echoing gestures that do not belong to her. Transforming, dissolving and re-emerging in resonance with the environment, the body becomes both a sensitive instrument of perception and the very place where tectonic events occur—a space in which human and non-human forces intertwine.
TECTONIC is a choreographic project that investigates the metamorphosing boundaries between body, space and matter. It questions individualistic and separatist models of knowledge, exploring how dance and choreography can sharpen our perception of the forces—internal and external—that shape our being in the world.
In the artists' words: The period of residency at Scompiglio offered us an ideal and immersive context to take the first steps of our research, allowing us to focus in depth on the questions at the centre of the project. Together with the dancer Roosa Törmä, we explored a performative state of “hypervigilance” — an acute sensitivity to the vibrations and forces in movement in the surrounding space. We investigated the relationship of the body with its own material state and its close relationship with the materiality and vibrations of the world, gradually moving closer to the idea of the body as a place of tectonic events, capable of perceiving its own geology and stratification. Fredrik Arsæus Nauckhoff developed an electronic sound composition that reflects this investigation, traversing undulations of sound and low frequencies, moving from subtle, almost imperceptible scales to dense, incisive rhythmic cadences. During the process, Elisa D'Amico accompanied the work, offering feedback and suggestions and documenting the research through writings and drawings. This residency marked the beginning of the project, which will debut in Copenhagen in January 2026.

“If I had left, if I had let myself leave, you would not be here, because there would be no sex, no family, no marital bed, no motherhood, no warm milk, no caresses to balance my fists, no one, no one would have taken care of you. You would be an individual thrown into nothingness. The world you like so much is on me, on my shoulders. No one asked me anything, you're right. Of course. But if I were not here, the world would just roll around and crush us all. If I don't carry the world, you have no form. If I leave it, you have no boundaries. There would be neither here nor there, neither right nor left. I am here to divide, to form, to oppose, I am here to make war, because where there is war, there is death, and where there is death, there is life. I am the Father.”
(The Father's Monologue - Gennaro Lauro)
Gennaro Andrea Lauro, was born in England and raised in Italy. After studying Philosophy and Oriental Languages, he came to dance and theatre, working as a performer since 2013 for the Italian companies Sosta Palmizi, of which he has been an associate artist since that year, and Atacama, in creations by Romeo Castellucci, for Cindy Van Acker, and also for Flora Gaudin, Fabian Ruiz of Circo El Grito, Aurélien Dougé, and Heine Avdal/Yukiko Shinozaki. In 2024 he took part in Oona Doherty's new creation, Specky Clark. He has participated in film projects by Arnold Pasquier and Jérôme Walter Gueguen and assisted the companies Cunca/lauro and Divisar. Between 2021 and 2022 he was one of the ‘Co-Creators’ of Tanz Station – Barmer Bahnhof in Wuppertal.
Since 2018 he has worked on his own creations.
Sarajevo – la strage dell’uomo tranquillo, his first solo, was a finalist for the 2018 Equilibrio Prize and was selected for the Vetrina Anticorpi XL 2018 as well as among the ’40 Winks’ of Aerowaves 2019.
Mondo, a Franco-Italian co-production, was selected for the Vetrina Anticorpi XL 2020 and was among the ’40 Winks’ of Aerowaves 2021.
ZugZwang, in collaboration with his sister Elisabetta Lauro, was selected for ResiDance XL 2022.
He is currently working on his new creative project for 2025: To Repel Ghosts/Lettera al Padre, a study of masculinity, a Sosta Palmizi/Compagnie Meta (FR) co-production.
He continues to work as a translator for Italian publishing houses and for Italian and international academic journals.
His wish is that his path continues to follow his own footsteps, and not the other way around.
Silvia Mai is a dancer and a mountain shepherd. She studies with Raffaella Giordano, Silvia Rampelli and Dominique Dupuy. She is co-founder of the movement research group FamigliaFuché.
In 2012, she created “Raku” (a project that won the 2012 GD’A Veneto award). She subsequently launched two “twin” projects that remain in the research phase, on the experience if time: “Ciò che resta del fuoco” in collaboration with the percussionist Enrico Malatesta, and Cercandomi seduto stanco in collaboration with Valeria Mai.
She has performed in Caino, Cage’s Parade and Ora non hai più paura by Teatro Valdoca (2010-2013), Hospice by Glen Caçi (winning project of the Equilibrio Prize 2013), Or by Silvia Rampelli/ Habillé d’eau, Sulla felicità by Giorgio Rossi/Sosta Palmizi, and The Bassarids, an opera by H.W.Henze, directed by Mario Martone. In 2015 she was in Lisbon with Yield, a project born from a meeting with the Portuguse artist, Claudia Dias and RTC (Real Time Composition). Since 2013, she has been exploring some of the themes that converge in the study of martial arts and Japanese traditions.
After several years of artistic silence dedicated to experiencing the mountains, she took part in Désert by Leonardo Delogu (Cagliari, 2018).
In 2020, she was among the dancers selected for OUR Labyrinth, a performance by the Taiwanese artist Lee Mingwei. In autumn 2021, she was a guest at Laterale for the Danae Festival with the project, Prospettive Animali, the first step in a new personal research with Anna Paola Bacalov and her faithful dogs Gringo and Eco.
