‘I recently did a DNA test in search of my ancestral origins; the results divided me into quantitative percentages of nearly 24 different geographical locations/ countries. It inspired me to re-imagines our concepts of origins, migration and multiculturalism, searching to decipher the multiple identities that inhabit us and to decode the inner maps within our bodies.Questioning how much of who we are is already coded within us and what do we collect as we go along'

D-Code is threading Nature with Nurture while putting a special focus on the heritage we each carry within us from nearly 3million years of being nomads. Responding to an increasingly multicultural world where the creation of identity of self through geographical location has become fractured and with the complexities that arise between globalisation and the increasing tendencies of countries to restrict, defend and protect their geographical borders, this project aims to bring to light the importance of our common origins and trajectories. Attempting to decipher the different layers we carry within us biologically, physically, culturally and environmentally, while on a more personal level exploring the memories that still continue to vibrate within us from a possible distant past, consciously or unconsciously, D-Code is tracing a line between the personal and the universal while transforming our bodies into personal maps with physical & visual theatre, video, multiple verbal languages & sound.
