Maurizio Nannucci was born in Florence in 1939, where he still lives and works. His art is an expression of his research into the relationship between light and writing, both form and word. Since the Sixties, he has leaned towards concrete art and visual poetry. His first works in neon were exhibited in 1967 (solo exhibition at the Centro Arte Viva di Trieste). In 1968 he founded the publishing house Exempla (Florence) and the Zona Archives Edizioni. His linguistic experimentation based on new media have placed him within the international Fluxus and Conceptualism art movements. His most recent installations in neon have been at the Carpenter Center of Harvard University in Cambridge, the Auditorium del Parco della Musica in Rome, Fiumicino Airport in Rome, in the Library of the Deutsche Bundestag in Berlin, at the Kunsthalle in Vienna, at the European Patent Office in Munich, Villa Arson in Nice and in the garden of the Peggy Guggenheim Foundation in Venice. Maurizio Nannucci has participated in Documenta in Kassel, and at the biennals in Venice, Sao Paulo, Valencia, Sydney and Istanbul.
